CM Magazine Reviews Mahahaa

CM Magazine reviews Mahahaa, written by Jeela Palluq-Cloutier and
Neil Christopher, and illustrated by Babah Kalluk.

“The visual of the [Inuktitut and English] side by side is such a beautiful and authentic way to share an additional piece of the Inuit culture. The story, itself, is exciting and emotional at the same time and is written with a cadence that often feels like poetry. Mahahaa would be a great book to use as an example of descriptive writing. . . . The art is incredible; it manages to seem both current and traditional at the same time. . . . there is exceptional beauty in the illustrations of the tundra and other landscapes. The illustration on page 11, of arctic char as seen through a hole in the ice, is so stunning I would frame it.”
