Reviewer Helen Kubiw calls the illustrations “rich with uncompromising elements of unkindness, deep waters, and expansive tundra, all essential in supporting the story within,” adding that Aletha Arnaquq-Baril’s retelling of the traditional story is “an accomplished and breath-taking rendition.”
