First Nation Communities READ 2026-2027 Children has shortlisted They Come Off the Ice, written by Andrea Andersen and illustrated by Coco Apunnguaq Lynge and Emma Pedersen.

Chosen by a jury of First Nation librarians from across Ontario, these titles represent the best of Indigenous literature from Canada today.  The title selection announcement and award presentation for FNCR 2026-2027 will take place during First Nation Public Library Week (October 5-9, 2026).

• Can I Come, Too? An Adventure with the Grumpy Faces, written by Nadia Sammurtok and illustrated by Emma Pedersen
• It’s Time to Lend a Hand, written by Ceporah Mearns & Jeremy Debicki and illustrated by Nuria Muro Gio
• The Fawn, written by Etua Snowball and illustrated by Shuggie Crossland
• To My Irniq: To My Son, written by Nadia Sammurtok and illustrated by Hsulynn Pang
